Hillary Westenbarger, or "Betty Crocker" as her friends fondly referred to her, was a renowned baker. Her Seven Layer Bars, Neiman Marcus cookies and Alberta Whiskey Cakes were out of this world. It was only fitting then that there were lots of sweet treats and wine—also a favorite of Hillary's—at her celebration of life gathering on Saturday afternoon.
About 300 of Hillary's family and friends came together to share stories, look at pictures, laugh, cry, and of course, eat and drink, to honor and remember the loving wife, devoted mother and encouraging friend to so many.
Hillary's family didn't want a "traditional" funeral service, so we worked together to host a gathering that "perfectly" reflected her interests, personality and life.
From the sunflowers to the red-and-white checkered "Betty Crocker" tablecloths to the candles to the sweet memories shared by family and friends, this day wasn't about Hillary's death, it was all about her life. And who knew you could have an open bar at a funeral? This truly was a one-of-a-kind celebration.
